I believe every woman, in the midst of working (inside or outside the home), cooking, cleaning and if you have children, hearing “mom” 147 times in an hour… should take a moment to value ourselves. To see ourselves through our loved ones eyes. To experience the beauty and strength that they see on a daily basis.

Heather is a wife, a mother of three, a teacher and a care giver.  She, as many women do, selflessly gives to her family and those around her. It was a complete joy to photograph Heather, to hear her laugh and enjoy taking a moment for herself. Here is her story:

It’s an exciting day here at the studio as today we turn FIVE! It’s been interesting going from the mindset that owning my own business would be easy (I mean, you set your own hours, right?!) to realizing that owning your own business just might be one of the most challenging things that I have ever embarked upon. Albeit, one of the most rewarding things as well!

There is no greater joy in showing someone the beauty in themselves, the beauty that has always been there, but they have never seen before. I am so grateful and humbled that I get to work with amazing people everyday. I’m also incredibly thankful for the support that I have received from family, friends and clients throughout the startup years of the business!

As March rolls around, I find myself willing Spring to come. Although, despite my wishes, we were blessed with just a little bit more snow today… Hopefully Spring will make her appearance soon enough. But for now, Weston and I, are going to stay cuddled up inside with a blanket and a good book!

(He wasn’t overly thrilled about wearing a scarf, but thankfully he put up with it long enough for me to get at least one photo!)

I’m sorry that I might not tell you how much I appreciate you more often throughout the year. However, as Mother’s day approaches, I want to take a moment and tell you that I am so thankful for you.

I am so appreciative of the role you have in my life and the example that you have been and continue to be. Thank you for putting up with me from the terrible twos to the slamming doors of the teenage years and, of course, everything in between.

You have become my best friend that I happen to call mom and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

I think you are gorgeous. And even though I despised it in high school, maybe it’s not a such a bad thing when people tell me “You look just like your mother!”  I love you Mom!

She awakes to the sound of his babbling. She gets up and makes her way to the crib, pausing in the doorway, smiling at the love of her life as he softly talks to himself. She thinks to herself, where has the time gone?! My little boy is getting so big.

There are days where all of her energy is spent on making sure he is fed, bathed, and well taken care of. There are days were in the midst of the chaos, every now and then, she walks out of the house she realizes that she forgot to eat something herself. But these are the moments, as she watches him happy and content, that make the long, sleepless nights, the tantrums, and all of the messes that little ones bring, worth it.

The shoot was the rare occasion where she took a moment for herself. I am so honored that you spent part of your day at the studio for a boudoir session, I had so much fun photographing you!
